Administrative Error, 51-Year-Old Enters Finnish Women's National Team

Helsinki – A unique and embarrassing administrative incident occurred in the world of Finnish women's football, when a 51-year-old woman was accidentally called up to strengthen the national team, replacing the younger player who was actually intended.

The Finnish women's national team manager has issued a public apology after mistakenly including 51-year-old Stina Ruuskanen in the official squad. The name bears a resemblance to Nanne Ruuskanen, the 23-year-old the team manager had originally intended to call up.

The error was only discovered after the administrative process had been completed and the deadline for player registration for the upcoming match had passed. As a result, Stina Ruuskanen—who has had no professional playing experience in decades—was officially registered as part of the Finnish national squad, while Nanne Ruuskanen missed out on a valuable opportunity to represent her country.

"I deeply regret this mistake. It is my responsibility and I have apologized directly to Nanne and his family," the team manager said in a statement. "We will re-evaluate our player selection procedures to ensure that something like this does not happen again in the future."

Although it did not have a direct impact on the course of the match as Stina was not involved, the incident still generated discussion among the Finnish public and media, and highlighted the importance of thoroughness in the administration of professional sports.
